

Lucille Centineo Esquerré, age 84, passed away peacefully in her home after a courageous journey with terminal cancer. She was surrounded by love and comfort in her final days, just as she had surrounded so many others with compassion throughout her life.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 10, 1941, Lucille grew up in a close-knit family and carried the warmth of her upbringing into every chapter of her life. She attended Fortier High School in Uptown New Orleans and later retired from Kimberly-Clark, where she was known for her dedication, kindness, and steady presence.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, John Centineo and Rose Cusimano Shanks; her brother, John Centineo; and her beloved spouse, William Stephen Esquerré.
She is survived by her brothers AJ Centineo (Judy), Michael Centineo (Wai), and Gary Centineo (Nicki).
In addition to her loving brothers, Lucille is survived by her daughter Dana Charpio, spouse of Ronnie Charpio; and two of Lucille’s grandchildren, Adam Bankston (Jill) and Ryan Charpio. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Alyssa Bankston, Emma Zelaya, Jayden Zelaya, Parker Bankston, and Penelope Bankston.
Lucille is also survived by her son Christopher Esquerré, spouse of Robin Esquerré; and three of her grandchildren, Ethan Esquerré (Olivia) and their daughter Eloise Esquerré, Evan Esquerré, and Isabel Esquerré. She is additionally remembered with love by her significant other, Ronnie Howard.
A devoted member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Lucille served faithfully for many years as a Eucharistic Minister. She brought weekly communion to the sick and hospitalized, offering comfort, prayer, and companionship to those unable to leave their beds. Her gentle spirit and unwavering generosity touched countless lives.
Lucille had a sweet, loving personality that made everyone feel welcomed and cherished. She treasured time spent with her family and found great joy in traveling abroad, embracing new experiences with curiosity and gratitude. Her presence brought light, and her memory will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.
She will forever be in our hearts.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at Lake Lawn Funeral Home at 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Thursday, March 26, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest in Metairie Cemetery immediately after Mass has concluded.
