Lucy Giangrosso Plaia passed away on July 24, 2014 at the age of 89, surrounded by her family. Lucy was the youngest of nine siblings born to Sicilian immigrants. She married the love of her life at the age of 19, Bernard “Benny” Plaia to whom she was married for 69 wonderful years. She spent her adult life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband and is survived by her three children, Bernard Plaia, Jr. (Donna), Carolyn Plaia Aufdemorte (Ted), Theresa Plaia Colley (Billy), five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her brother Carlo Giangrosso and her sister-in-law Betty June Plaia Neeb.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday, July 28, 2014 at St. Angela Merici Church 835 Melody Drive, Metairie, at 12:00pm. Visitation will begin at 10:00am until service time. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
