Doctor John was my mother’s 1st cousin and I was a third cousin to John . The last time he preformed at Jazzfest I was invited to wish him good luck and talked about our families in back of stage. Sincerely, Kelly

I saw Dr John three times in my life.  Each time it was a marvolous experience.  The first was as he opened for the Almond brothers at the Spectrum in Philadelphia sometime back in the early 70's.    He was then the Night Tripper and the Gris Gris wonder.  Then another time at a solo venue.  But my most favorable time was introducing him to my kids in the mid-late 80's in Lancaster, Pa. when he performed at the Host hotel with Leon Russell.  Our kids (ages 9 and 11) still remember that night as one of our family's most cherished times.  My wife and I were struck with the opportunity to see two remarkable performers who we have loved for years.  I can still remember the entire concert -- every song, every moment, every wonderful memory that we gave our children who became fans for life.   That you, Mac (Dr. John ). May you rest in a jazz heaven.  We have loved you for years.

I thank you for sharing the Doctor with the world. I knew him from his playing in the FQ back in the day. A more generous soul I never met. Blessings.

Mac, the music you gave  all of us was and is inspirational in the truest sense of the world.   Rest in the peace of the Savior forever.    

I am not sure of the dates but when I was around 10, 11, or 12 my mother said she was taking me to see her Aunt whom was Dr.John’s mother. He wasn’t there but I think he may have been in New York at that time. His mother talked briefly about her son and his music and I got really interested in seeing him in my late teens early 20’s I found him at someone’s place jamming in a big garage. I stood by and watched and listened to some funky awesome music. When they took a break I got to speak to him and tell him I was his 3rd cousin and I had once visited his house with my mother in younger years. God bless the family and God has another spiritual soul in Mac Rebennack. 

This old go-go girl loaded up the jukebox and twirled her tassels to Dr. John many a time back in the day.
Good times.

My heart was aching watching the second line for Dr. John today.  Been listening and going to his shows for 50+ years.  It brought it home and made it all too real.  Thank you from my heart and soul....for all the years of music that enriched my life and the lives of everyone who had the good fortune of hearing you.  Peace to you

Rest in Peace, Dr. John! The world has lost a fantastic Piano Man!

I'll Miss Mac; he was a friend of my family, when I was coming of age in Algiers. He played in my Uncle's bar and that's where I met him. He was a good person with a big heart, and my heart is with his family as he makes his way onto his next journey. Truly, he will rest in happiness, he gave so much. I love you "Uncle" Mac. Hope you see your old friend Remy there. 

Please accept my sympathy in the passing of Mac.  As a Sacred Heart Yat I followed his music and career through the years.  The last time I saw him play was in Dillon, Colorado in July 2017.  It was such a night!  He appeared happy and he was looking good! He will be missed....

Thank you Dr. John for your music.  Rest in Peace my friend.

When I attended my  1961 Senior Prom at Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans, Mac Rebennack (the band that played that night) would grow up to be Dr.John (he was only about three years older than we were as the Seniors at that dance.

It took a while to realize that Mac Rebennack was actually Dr. John, but after I did, I followed his career to the end'

So, Mac Rebbenack, Fly High and Touch the Sky and Let the Music Play!
