Manuel J. Messina

Mr. Messina is also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Flora Caminita Messina, and his brother, Sebastian J. Messina.

He is survived by his sons Joseph Messina (Kathleen) and Jeffrey Messina (Tina); grandchildren Katherine Messina, Christopher Messina, Haley Messina, Mallory Messina, and Olivia Messina; and his sister Frances Cefalu.

Mr. Messina graduated from St. Aloysius High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a parishioner of St. Angela Merici for nearly 47 years.

He had a long and rewarding career as a manufacturer’s representative, and was a natural salesman.

Mr. Messina enjoyed playing poker, watching horse racing at the Fairgrounds, and fishing in his later years. He was an all-around sports fan, but truly enjoyed attending Saints games.

The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to Debbie Fiegel, Alicia Alonzo, and Keiyana Salter, as well as to Sister Elvia of Sister Servants of Mary, for their exceptional care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 12:00pm in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 10:00am. Interment will follow the Mass in Lake Lawn Park and Mausoleum.
