Margaret Ann Lokey Overstreet passed away on February 2, at the age of 82. She was the wife of John Overstreet and the mother of Daniel Kelley (Norma) of Ft. Collins, CO, Jack Overstreet of Jefferson, LA, Jennifer Overstreet (Casey) of Harahan, LA, and the late Sean Kelley. She was the step mother of Julia Sathler of Portland, OR. She is also survived by grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, and Daniel Kelley, Alex Sathler, and Ava Dagger.
Margaret was born on August 26, 1943, in Norman, OK. She is survived by brothers, Rex Lokey (Rita) and Tom Lokey (Mary) of Tishomingo, OK. Sisters surviving are Susan Kiser (Frank) of Ada, OK and Leigh Hurst (Brian) of Indianapolis, IN.
She was pre-deceased by her biological father, Hal Phyfer; parents, Margaret and John Lokey; son, Sean Kelley; brother, Ray Lokey; her beloved Aunt Florence; and family pet, Velvet.
Margaret attended Murray State College in Tishomingo and St. Mary’s Dominican in New Orleans. She was a former musician at Jefferson United Methodist Church and Kenner United Methodist Church, and a long time member of the Louisiana Poetry Society.
Services will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Monday, February 9, 2026.
Visitation will begin at 12 PM with a Catholic Memorial Service officiated by Deacon Caserta following at 1 PM. Margaret will be laid to rest in Lake Lawn Park immediately after the chapel service.
