Margit was born on September 15, 1944 to Erna Lina Adler (Stasch) and Alfred Albert Adler in Bartenstein, East Prussia, Germany. She and her family came to New Orleans in May of 1957. She attended Alceé Fortier High School, followed by business classes at Tulane University, which paved her way to a successful career in hospital management. She acquired U.S. citizenship in 1967.
Although she had a successful career, her family was her proudest accomplishment.
Margie was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Mandeville. She enjoyed sewing, playing tennis, and dancing, but more than anything else, time with her children and grandchildren.
Margie will be remembered for her kindness, selfless generosity, quick witted humor, strong faith, and so much more.
She is survived and dearly missed by her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Christine Atwood, Stephanie Cheatham (Bill), and Whitney Lutz (Kraig); grandchildren, Andy Williams, Nolan Williams (Caitlyn), Nathan Cheatham, Nicholas Cheatham, Elliot Moore (Mariah), Evan Lutz (Natalie), Joshua Lutz, Rachael Cheatham, and Jamie Cheatham; great grandchildren, Morgan Williams, Logan Williams, and August Lutz; sisters, Christa Batiansila (the late Rev. A.E.), and Rotraud Karin Alverson (the late Roy M.); and many adoring nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ethan Moore; parents, Erna Lina Adler (Stasch) and Alfred Albert Adler; brother, Uwe Adler; sister-in-law, Barbie Adler; and two nephews, Stephen Alverson and Kurt Adler.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 22531 LA – 1088 in Mandeville, Louisiana, on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00AM. A reception will follow the memorial service.
