
Maria received her high school degree from Colegio Teresa Martin, a catholic all-girls school in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. After graduation, she came to New Orleans to study English and business at the Spencer Business College. She worked for many years at the Division of Motor Vehicles in Kenner. She left the Division of Motor Vehicles to attend the Baton Rouge Police Academy. After completing her training at the Academy, she worked as a police officer. Upon retiring from the police force, she became a notary public in St. Tammany Parish. She remained in the New Orleans area until moving to Mandeville later in life
Maria was preceded in death by her father, Gustavo Marin.
Survivors include her mother, Alma de Marin of Guatemala; son, Rommel Cordova (Lauren) of Metairie; grandchildren, Cristina and Hunter; sister, Isabel Marin Rodarte of Houston, Texas; and brother, Gustavo Marin de Leon of San Antonio, Texas.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Staff of Pontchartrain Health Care Center for their unwavering dedication and incredible care they provided to Maria.
