Marianne Bouvier Hinkley

Marianne B. Hinkley Wyatt Halpern, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. She is survived by her daughter, Hayla Hinkley Heard; her son, Charles Hinkley, Jr.; grandchildren, Susan Heard Emmert, Ann Heard Bernard, Stephen Heard, Elizabeth Heard Schnur and David Heard; and her nine great-grandchildren: Jack, Kate and Lily Crawford; Luke and Holly Bernard; Owen, Audrey and Adrienne Schnur; Isabella Heard. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles P. Hinkley, Sr.; second husband, Robert H. Wyatt, and third husband, Nathan Halpern, Jr.; her sister, Elizabeth DeGrusha Higgins and her parents, Sampson F. and Rita C. Bouvier. Marianne was born June 24, 1926 in New Orleans and a graduate of Sophie B. Wright high school. She was a dance student and at the age of 16 was encouraged by family members in Houma, Louisiana to open a dance studio in their community marking the beginning of Marianne's School of Dance, an institution of 50 plus years with studio expansion locations in New Orleans, Metairie, Larose and Lockport Louisiana. Hundreds of students passed through her doors and many of her graduates opened their own dance studios expanding her legacy. Her dancers provided entertainment for many Mardi Gras balls, school, church and nursing home events. Later, her never ending curiosity for truth and life's meaning set her on a path of scripture study, focusing on the Hebrew roots of her Christian faith. She hosted bible studies, vacation bible schools and gave teachings throughout her community. She was a member of Women's Aglow and incorporated dance choreography in many worship services with The Wings of Victory. While she will be greatly missed, we know she is now Dancing With The Stars! Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans, LA on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 12:00 NOON.
