Marie M. Clesi

Kenner, Louisiana, Marie Martin Clesi, mother, sister and friend, passed away with her daughters by her side on Sunday, December 20, 2020 after her battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. George De Jeanette Martin, Jr. and Mrs. Claire Heath.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Tara Clesi Lacour (husband John) and Lara Clesi Ray (husband Matthew), her grandchildren, Jami Lacour Ishee (husband Michael), Jennie Lacour Roy (husband Michael), Joshua Lacour and Matthew Ray, and great grandchild, John Roger Ishee. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret M. Hoffman, niece, Michelle Hoffman and nephews, Michael Hoffman, Mark Hoffman and Martin Hoffman.

After teaching high school math for 8 years, Marie ventured into a new career in 1980 as one of the first female State Farm Agents in Louisiana. However, the teacher in her was always there and so she not only sold insurance, but also educated her clients about the insurance she sold to them.

Marie was very involved in her community, and was a member of numerous clubs and organizations, serving as secretary, vice president and president in many of them. She also was honored to have served her community in various elected positions. She was a trusted mentor and advisor both personally and politically.

Her friends and family will miss her wisdom, her advice and especially her celebratory spirit.

A visitation will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Monday, December 28, 2020 beginning at 10:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 1:00PM. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
