Marie E. Markey passed away quietly on November 18, 2015. Age 91 years. Lifelong resident of the New Orleans area. Born to German immigrants, Joseph Eck and Magedelina Paulus Eck on November 28, 1923. She was preceeded in death by her husband Earl J. Markey, Sr. and siblings, Ernest Eck, Anna Eck McCord, Helen Eck Diodene and Joseph Eck. She is survived by her sons, Earl J. Markey, Jr. and wife Naomi, and Micheal Markey and wife, Cindy. Also survived by grandchildren, Earl J. Markey, III, and wife, Fatu, Andrew Markey and wife, Crystal, and Mary Markey Dubourg, and husband David and great grandchild, Gabrielle Markey and a sister-in-law, Mildred Markey. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Our thanks to the staff at Colonial Oaks and Hospice Associates for their care in her final days. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Cypress Grove Cemetery.
