Marie Dolores Noya, a resident of Harahan, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Ochsner Hospital after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family who all loved and treasured her deeply.
Marie was born on August 27, 1930, in Baltimore, Maryland, where she was raised and later met and married her husband Joseph J. Noya, M.D. They were married for over 59 years until his death in 2011. Together they raised five sons. As a mother and exceptional grandmother, her energy, dedication and love were unmatched. She was dedicated to her family, and treated friends and others she met as if they were part of her own family.
Marie was a faithful member of St. Rita of Cascia Parish. She was friends with so many, keeping active in Silver Trotters, Colonial Garden Club, Imperial Woods Gourmet Club and her ladies bowling group at Colonial Lanes. Even after she stopped bowling, a weekly highlight was lunch with the bowling girls. She loved hosting parties, welcoming and entertaining guests. Visiting with her always involved eating great food, making people feel at home, telling stories, laughing, and asking folks to “come back soon.” Her Italian biscotti were legendary and will be dearly missed. Family Sunday dinners are memories that we will always cherish.
Marie was predeceased by her parents, Salvatore Giordano and Josephine Gugliuzza Giordano, her husband, “Dr. Joe,” her sister, Angela Giordano, and grandson, Stephen Noya. Survivors include her five sons, Mark Noya, Kirk Noya (Pam), Scott Noya (Anne), Keith Noya (Angie), and Glenn Noya (Maria), and grandchildren, Angela Noya, Alex Noya, Christina Noya, Elizabeth “Liz” Noya, Elizabeth “Libby” Noya, Mary “Cat” Noya, Shelby Schenck (Thomas), and Grant White.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday July 18, 2026, at St. Rita of Cascia Parish Catholic Church, 7100 Jefferson Highway, Harahan, LA. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. with a funeral Mass to begin at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum, inside Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to your favorite charity in the memory of Marie Noya, or to the St. Rita Parish Church Food Pantry. Mass cards in her memory are also welcomed.
