

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gosen Roeten and Zelia Babin Roeten; her husband, Terry Power; her brother, Msgr. Winus Roeten; as well as many other friends and relatives.
She is survived by her sons, Terry and Shawn Power; her brother, Kenneth Roeten; her sister in law, Sr. Rose Power, her brother in law, Alex Mouledous; numerous nieces and nephews on both the Roeten and Power sides; and many beloved friends and their children and grandchildren that were all so dear to her.
Marie was born in Raceland, Louisiana on August 1, 1925 and lived in various towns throughout southeast Louisiana until settling in St. Stephen’s Church Parish in Uptown New Orleans as a teenager. She worked for many years at Pan American Life Insurance as a young adult. After marriage in 1960, she moved to River Ridge and was a parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Church for over fifty years, even serving as secretary in the church rectory for ten years.
Marie was known for her selfless service to others, her upbeat attitude and her always being a symbol of humility and class.
Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate her life at her Funeral Mass at 12:30 p.m. at St. Matthew the Apostle Church, 10021 Jefferson Highway in River Ridge on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Visitation at the church will begin at 10:30 a.m.
