Marie "Mikie" Howard Siegel

Marie “Mikie” Howard Siegel passed away at the age of 94 on September 17, 2021. She was born on May 7, 1927. She loved flying and was a longtime employee of Delta Airlines—first as a flight attendant and then as a ticket agent. She earned her pilot’s license as a young woman and wrote articles for the local newspaper about flying. In addition to her affinity for aviation, she was also quite the swimmer, spending many of her hours diving at the swimming pool. She was a member of Old Metairie Protestant Church, where she sang in the choir for over 50 years, in addition to her talents also joining the Jefferson Performing Arts Society.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Andrew W. Siegel; her nieces and nephews, Phyllis Treigle and Ed Blache, Patricia McWhorter Broussard and Peter Broussard, David and Lisa McWhorter, and Stephen and Renee McWhorter; and her great-nieces, Erin Sheets, Emily Treigle, Allyson McWhorter, Brindley McWhorter, Rebecca McWhorter Ruegge, Elizabeth McWhorter Guillory, Emily McWhorter, and Olivia Broussard Weiss.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA at 12:00pm. A visitation will begin at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Cypress Grove Cemetery in New Orleans.
