Marie Douta Dixon Smith

Marie Douta Dixon Smith entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the age of 72. She has now rejoined her late husband, Emanuel J. Smith Sr., in their heavenly home. She is survived by her son, Jude Smith and wife Kimberly and her only grandson Jude Wells. She is also survived by her sister Hazel Dixon of Dallas, TX, her brother-in-law Jessie Swift and her step-daughter, Lana Cohen. Marie is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ophelia and Andrew Dixon Sr., her sibling; Jude Thaddeus, Andrew Jr., John, James Dixon and Aletha Swift, and her step-sons; Emanuel Jr. and Elvin Smith.

Marie retired from Charity Hospital in New Orleans after 33 years of compassionate devotion to the 10th floor, OBGYN Department. She had a special passion for caring for new mothers after delivery. Marie was always somebody who could put a smile on your face, especially with her love for singing. She will be greatly miss by all of those who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Memorial Service at First New Testament Baptist Church, 6112 Westbank Expressway Marrero, La 70072 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum in New Orleans, La. A repass will be held at Servant Heart, 1425 Trojan Blvd. in Marrero, La.
