Marilyn Margaret Bartol Boutall, 89, of Metairie passed away on May 6, 2015. She was born in Mt. Vernon, New York in 1926. She was married to the late Judge John Charles Boutall, and had four children: Richard John, Katherine Elaine Hoffman (Eugene III), William Charles (Barrie), and Charles Arthur II (Jeanne). Mimi was blessed with six grandchildren, Kristen Hoffman Porter (Monroe II), Eugene Hoffman IV (Edith), Karynne Hoffman Richerand (Frank II), Erika Hoffman St. Pierre (Gregory), Patrick Boutall, and Elizabeth Boutall-Netzhammer (Karl) and eleven great grandchildren: Colton and Brittany Porter, Eugene V and Julia Hoffman, Kaelyn, Marigny, and Alexandra Richerand, Katherine St. Pierre, Gabrielle, Logan, and Pyper Boutall. Marilyn is also survived by her brother Richard Bartol and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary Loughran Bartol. Marilyn graduated from Hunter College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in nutrition and education. Marilyn met John during his tour of duty as an officer of the United States Navy. They were married in New York City on March 31, 1945, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and then resided in Metairie, LA. While John began his law practice, Marilyn raised her four children as a stay at home mother.
Marilyn enjoyed shopping for a great bargain, traveling with John around the world, playing bridge, especially with her friends at the Metairie Senior Center and the Louisiana Bridge Association. One of her fondest memories was being at the Jersey shore as a child, and she continued that tradition with her own family, especially with the extended family once a year in Gulf Shores, AL. She was a founding member of the Jefferson Bar Auxiliary and a longtime member of Les Nouvelles.
The family would like to acknowledge Nell and Margaret with Quality Care Group and the companions who took care of Mimi in her final years at home, especially Tamekia, Jackie, Denise, and Hazzarra. Hospice Compassus helped immensely in her last days and gave Marilyn and the family a great deal of comfort.
