

Marilyn Boudreaux Brandt, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, surrounded by the love she spent a lifetime giving. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on March 26, 1938, Marilyn lived a life devoted to faith, family, friendship, service, and joy.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Lloyd Brandt; and their four daughters, Karen Brandt (Bryan), Kim Burr (Doug), Kathryn Berrigan (Brian), and Karol Brandt (John). She was a loving grandmother to five grandchildren: Alicia Perry (Brad), Pia Bordelon (Jude), Victoria Gilberti (Brian), Bailey Grote (Will), and Blake Brandt Berrigan. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Hannah Perry, Makayla Bode, Bradley Perry, Peter Bordelon, Gwyn Bordelon, Alice Perry, and Blake Grote.
She is further survived by her sister, Phyllis Berry (Jimmy); her brother, Carl Boudreaux (Diane); and her brother-in-law, Tommy (Andrea). She was preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Evelyn Boudreaux, and her grandson, Blake Brandt Berrigan.
Marilyn was a 1956 graduate of Ursuline Academy, the last class of the Leprechauns. She completed Mercy Nursing School in 1959 and devoted over 20 years of service as a nursery nurse at Mercy Hospital. In 1983, she earned a certification in jewelry design from Delgado University.
Marilyn and Lloyd shared a remarkable 65-year marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and adventure. Together, they especially cherished their travels to Hilton Head and Maine. Marilyn proudly embraced her role as a Fisherman’s wife, building a life rooted in partnership, loyalty, and shared joy.
She was a respected leader in her community, serving as President of Mercy Nurses’ Alumni, President of SALA (St. Angela Merici Ladies Association), President of the City Park Women’s Tennis Club, President of the CPA Wives Club of New Orleans, Queen Mother of the Chattyats Red Hat Club, and Troop Leader for Brownies and Girl Scouts.
Marilyn was the recipient of the Louisiana Great 100 Nurses Award, recognizing her courage, competency, compassion, and care, and she received the Victor B. Marquer Award in 2018 for her distinguished service to the New Orleans Dental Association.
A devout Catholic, Marilyn lived her faith through service, offering prayers, mass cards, meals, and spiritual support to those in need. She spearheaded the Youth Cabbage ball Summer Program at St. Angela Merici and remained actively involved in programs at St. Angela Merici and Mt. Carmel Academy.
She was deeply engaged at Green Acres Country Club, enjoying tennis, diving, and swimming, and treasured the friendships she built there.
Marilyn delighted in Mardi Gras, holiday decorating, card groups, coffee gatherings, and garage sale adventures with friends. She was an avid traveler who lovingly planned family trips, especially her cherished journeys to visit lighthouses around the world, which she documented and shared with her family. She was a long-time volunteer of Chef’s Gala benefitting St. Michael's Special School and volunteered at The World’s Fair.
“Mere” was a constant presence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, faithfully supporting their many activities, including dance, scouting, cheerleading, volleyball, tennis, diving, and theatre.
Among her many talents, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, shelling at the beach, sewing, swimming, and pearl stringing. Her recipes were always uniquely her own, made with a dash of love and a pinch of joy. She had a love for music and Broadway plays.
Marilyn’s greatest joy was her family and her home, where she warmly welcomed all who entered.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 901 Beverly Garden Drive in Metairie, on Friday, May 15, 2026. Visitation will begin at 11 AM with a Memorial Mass following at 12 PM. Marilyn will be laid to rest in Lake Lawn Park Cemetery on a later date.
