

Marilyn Ann Claret Gagliano entered eternal rest on December 30, 2024, at the age of 89. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Nicholas Joseph Gagliano, parents Emmet and Nellie Claret, and her brothers Raymond Claret (Rosalie), Leonard Claret, and Emmet Claret (Ann). She is survived by her four children: Paul Nicholas Gagliano (Carla), Lisa Mariae Gagliano Loup (Gerald Foret), John Francis Gagliano (Alesia), Timothy Jude Gagliano (Karen), seven grandchildren: Amanda Barth (Brad), Meghan Adams (Ryan), Kelsey Theriot (Jantz), Katie Gagliano, Nicholas Gagliano, Aidan Gagliano, Sheraden Gagliano and five great grandchildren: Dominic Marceaux Adams, Lucca Adams, Ronin Barth, Keira Theriot and Jantz Theriot Jr. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Rosalie Claret (Raymond), Frances Gagliano Rouchon (Maurice), and Ruth Dean Gagliano (J.D.).
Born on July 29th, 1935, to a working-class family in New Orleans, LA, Marilyn grew up on Washington Avenue, where she had a loving and memorable childhood. Her favorite summers were spent at a camp in Little Woods, which she fondly remembered into her elder years. She went to an all-girls Catholic high school, St. Joseph Academy, graduating in 1953. She briefly attended Loyola University, where she met her future husband Nicholas ‘Nick’ Gagliano. They wed on December 26th, 1957.
Marilyn was a hard-working housewife who raised her family with love, faith, and kindness. She instilled family values and emphasized strong family traditions with her children. She was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, parents, brothers and all other family members. She loved music, poetry, attending plays with her husband, and watching musicals. She also enjoyed the years spent at the family fishing camp in Cocodrie, Louisiana. Her later days were spent with her family, at her home of 52 years in Metairie, Louisiana. The live oak in her backyard, planted by her and her husband 50 years prior, was a source of constant enjoyment.
She was a devoted Catholic, attending St. Angela Merici Parish faithfully for over 50 years. She prayed the Rosary daily, inspiring others with her faith.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Angela Merici Church, 835 Melody Drive in Metairie, on Saturday, January 04, 2025, Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Mass following at 12:30 p.m. Interment will take place in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
