

Marjorie Waguespack Schmidt, born May 14, 1921 at Glendale Plantation in Edgard, LA, then brought home to grow up at her beloved home Felicity Plantation in Vacherie by her parents Edmee Burch Waguespack and Stanislaus J. Waguespack. Margie was married 69 years to her beloved and devoted husband, the late Arthur C. Schmidt of New Orleans and Metairie, LA. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Harold
Waguespack, Stan Waguespack, and Jess Waguespack of Vacherie, LA, and her sisters: Mildred Waguespack Hymel, Doris Waguespack Everett of New Orleans, LA, Enola Waguespack McLachlan of Metairie, LA, Gladys Waguespack Sulm of Vacherie, LA, Eunice Waguespack Granier of Baton Rouge, LA, and her beloved sister Clarisse. Margie was a 1937 graduate of St. Mary's Dominican High School and College. In WWII Margie worked for the War Department at the Lakefront Airport, coding weather reports for the armed forces in Europe. She lived in Lakeview from 1940 until 1978 and belonged to St. Dominic Church. Later, she worked in the Principal’s and Guidance
Offices at De La Salle High School from 1967 until retiring in 1990, and was loved by the many students. Throughout her life she was an avid painter and gardener. She was a member of the Metairie Art Guild. Margie was a parishioner of St. Clement of Rome in
Metairie since 1978, where she became active in the Young Elders. Margie's most fulfilling accomplishment was the loving home she created for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She passed away peacefully at her home in Metairie on December 23rd at the age of 95.
She is survived by her loving children Arthur C. Schmidt Jr. (Elizabeth) of Metairie, LA; Ronald Schmidt (Sheila) of Fairhope, AL; Sylvia Schmidt (Robert Warrens) of Mandeville, LA; Stephen Schmidt (Dianne) of New Orleans, LA. She was a beloved
grandmother to: Arthur, III (Brian Hartig), Margie Brierre, Edmond (Jodie), Michael, Christopher; Tara Kincaid (David) and Todd (Jennifer); Ehren Stanhope (Casey); Emily Martyn (Patrick), Kyle (Amy), Collin, and Conrad. In addition, there are 16 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home Chapel, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, (Metairie Cemetery) Wednesday, December 28th at 2pm. Visitation begins at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park
Mausoleum.
