Mary S. Benenate

Mary Stevens Benenate passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at the age of 82. She was a native of New Orleans and resident of Metairie. After high school, she attended Delgado Community College for one year. While Mary did work, her biggest role was being a homemaker. She was also a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Mary a breast cancer survivor, enjoyed sewing, teaching quilting at the People’s Program, crocheting, needle point and mostly helping others. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ellen Stevens. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Milton Benenate; daughter, Elisha Benenate (Gary Rancatore); son, Robert Benenate (Sandra Benenate); sisters, Betty Litolff and Diane O’Sullivan; grandchildren, Kaila Verret (Rocky Verret), Kristen Ax (Holden Silver), Kaitlan Couto, and Katherine Burge (Dylon Burge); great-grandchildren, Kyland, London, Knox, Kenton, Luna, Karrigan, Kenley and Saraya. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services for Mary held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA on Thursday, November 6, 2025. A visitation will begin at 12:00pm until the service begins at 2:00pm. Graveside will follow at St. Roch No. 2 in New Orleans.
