

Mary Grace Benedetto Cutting passed peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026, at her home in Metairie after a lengthy and courageous cancer battle at the age of 82, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 12, 1943, was a native of New Orleans, and a graduate of Alcee Fortier High School where she was affectionately known as “Mickie” to her dearest and closest friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George V. Benedetto, Sr. and Anna C. Brignaudy Benedetto, siblings, Carolyn Benedetto Terranova (Jack) and George V. Benedetto, Jr. (Barbara), and son-in-law David Sanborn Blake.
She is survived by her loving husband, Paul R. Cutting to whom she was married for more than 62 years after a “million to one” chance encounter at Pontchartrain Beach 66 years ago, which changed the course of their destiny forever. Their signature song played at their wedding was “A Million to One” by doo-wop group The Planotones. She is also survived by her daughter, Heather Cutting Blake, grandson, John Paul Sanborn Blake, and brother, Charles V. Benedetto.
Mary Grace was a beloved and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who found strength in her devotion to her faith, family, and friends. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
A private service will be held at a later date.
