Mary Adlyn McMahon McCarthy, 88, of New Orleans, LA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday October 2, 2024. She was born on April 12, 1936 to Anna & Thomas J McMahon in Cleveland, OH. Mary graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart in 1954 and in 1955, Mary met Edward D McCarthy in New Orleans and they were married in 1956.
Mary was devoted wife married to Ed for 66 years and she and Ed went on to have 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Anna & Tom McMahon, her brother Thomas F McMahon, her sister Judy McMahon Philbin, her husband Edward McCarthy and her son Michael McCarthy.
She is survived by her loving daughters Maureen Spencer (Robert), Kathleen Schneider (Roger), Erin Beech (Scott) and Setsuko McCarthy. She adored her 8 grandchildren Ali, Grayson, Kathryn, Evan, Avery, Miles, Nate, Megan as well as her great grandchild Whitt and numerous nieces and nephews. She loved her friends and family, and her home was always open for all.
A private family service was held on Friday October 18th at St Rita’s Church and at Lakelawn Cemeteries. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bridge House/Grace House.
