

Mary “Georgia” Wendt Pugeau entered into eternal rest on March 7, 2025. She was born on February 16, 1950 in Flushing, New York, to Mary Elizabeth Vezien Wendt and Fred August Wendt, Jr. Georgia was the loving mother of Ashley Pearson (William) and Chenet d’Hemecourt (Thomas). She was the grandmother of Brooke Madison d’Hemecourt, Ella Elizabeth d’Hemecourt, William “Liam” Shelton Pearson, Jr., and Charlotte “Charlie” Thais Pearson. She is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Charles Jacque Pugeau, her bother, Fred “Chip” August Wendt III, and her parents. Georgia grew up in Metairie, Louisiana and spent the last few years as a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She graduated from St. Martin Episcopal School and attended the University of New Orleans. She taught dance for over forty years with her mother and was the co-owner of Vezien and Wendt School of Dance. She was a talented tap dancer and member and captain of the Vassarette Marching Dance Group. She was employed for almost thirty years as a receptionist and retired from Lexus of New Orleans. Georgia was an active person who enjoyed exercise, trips to the Mississippi Gulf Coast with her late husband, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren who affectionately named her “Happy.” The family would like to thank the Blake of Biloxi, Lighthouse of Ocean Springs, and Notre Dame Hospice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124 on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time. A private interment will follow.
