Mary Leonora “Mary Lee” Frey Sarco passed on September 13, 2026, at the age of 80. She was born in New Orleans on January 25, 1946. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, she began a long career as a registered nurse. She was a parishioner of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Slidell and a former sister in the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph on Mirabeau Avenue in New Orleans.
In her free time, Mary loved reading, going to the beach in Pensacola, Florida, drinking a good Old Fashioned, and watching Korean romance shows on Netflix. Family was always the most important part of her life. She cherished her seven younger sisters and was a devout mother and grandmother. Mary was a perpetual caregiver and cared for everyone in her life- including her parents prior to their passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Francis and Leonora Klopf Frey and granddaughter, Hannah Catheryn Sarco.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Laura Nicole Sarco (Marc), Eve Sarco Reardon (Michael), and Leanne Charmagne Sarco (Fraser); grandchildren, Aden Chan Reardon, Ava Mary Reardon, Anisten Irene Reardon, Ben Garbers, Kai Garbers, and Max Garbers; sisters, Patricia Mattingly (Walter), Marie “Betty” Wood (John), Charlotte Paris (Mark), Joan Murphy (Michael), Nancy Cook (Sam), Kathleen “Kitty” Frey-Hein (Michael), and Cheryl “Shay” Frey; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Thursday, September 24, 2026. Visitation will begin at 12 PM followed by a Mass, officiated by Fr. Kevin Seay, at 2 PM. Mary will be laid to rest beside her beloved parents in All Saints Mausoleum immediately after the chapel service has concluded.
