Mary Schillage Schmitt

Mary S. Schmitt, age 91 years, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 at St. Francis Villa in River Ridge, LA. Wife of the late Fred C. Schmitt. Loving mother of Mary G. Smith (Carleton) and Glenn M. McDougald (Elizabeth). Daughter of the late Angelo Schillage and Catherine Alesci Schillage. Grandmother of James A. Smith (Jennifer), Lauren A. McDougald, and Devin S. McDougald. Great grandmother of Julien H. Smith. Sister of Theresa Distefano and Rosalie Costanza. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters. Mrs. Schmitt was a retired longtime former Event Coordinator for The Elms Mansion on St. Charles Ave. in New Orleans, LA. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the administration and staff of St. Francis Villa Assisted Living and Guardian Angel Hospice. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 12:00 PM.
