Maxine T. April

Maxine T. April passed away at her home with her family by her side on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. She was 97 years old. She was the daughter of the late Lee and Maggie Case Thompson; beloved wife for 42 years of the late Walter C. April, Jr.; loving mother of June A. Gorman, Robert W. April (Kelli), David C. April, and Betty Vinet Reed (Bill); sister of Aline T. Granberry and the late Sybil T. Hayman; and sister-in-law of Ethel A. Landry. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Maxine was a lifelong parishioner of St. Angela Merici Catholic Church. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Passages Hospice: Martha, Rachel, and especially Anthony for his care and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 901 Beverly Garden Dr. in Metairie, on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 12 noon. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park. In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred. To view and sign the guest book, please visit
