Born on August 13, 1950, in New Haven, Connecticut, Michael was the son of the late Francis and Stella Adinolfi. He graduated from St. Anselm’s College and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. His residency and fellowship at Tulane University brought him to New Orleans, where he would build a lasting legacy. A man of deep faith, he was an active parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Dr. Adinolfi dedicated more than four decades to the medical profession, serving on the staff at Touro Infirmary for over 43 years. He held several leadership roles during his tenure, including 12 years on the Medical Executive Committee, Medical Staff President from 2012 to 2014, and Chief of Surgery from 2018 to 2024.
Michael was a passionate and gifted surgeon who devoted his life to the care and healing of others. He was a pioneer in performing groundbreaking surgeries and took great pride in mentoring and educating the next generation of medical professionals. Outside of medicine, Michael enjoyed collecting antiques, fishing, and—most of all—spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughters Michelle Adinolfi Smith (Jonathan), Mary Adinolfi, Jane Adinolfi, and Rachel Adinolfi Culpepper (Blake); his sister Mary Ann Manseau; his brother Paul Adinolfi; and his cherished grandchildren, Noah Michael Smith and Sienna Margaret Smith.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass in celebration of Michael’s life on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Metairie Cemetery.
