Michael (Mike) Jay Begoun (65), devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 6, 2022. He was a native of Lincolnwood, Illinois, and was a resident of Metairie, Louisiana, for over 40 years. Michael practiced law in all State and Federal Courts throughout Louisiana since 1981. Michael earned his Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Illinois and his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University New Orleans. He was a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, and he was a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association where he served on several committees throughout his career.
Michael was an attorney and beloved partner at Wolfe, Begoun & Pick, LLC, where he practiced personal injury litigation, business law, and collections. Michael was a tenacious litigator in the courtroom but had huge compassion and understanding for his clients, many of whom would return to seek his legal assistance and refer family and friends to Michael for his legal acumen. He was a former Assistant District Attorney for Orleans Parish and a frequent lecturer for Louisiana Continuing Legal Education Courses.
Michael was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, New Orleans Saints and Pelicans, and LSU Tigers. Beloved husband of 35 years to Jackie Begoun. Father of Eric (Nick), Adam (Brittany), and Zachary (Sydney). Son of Sherwin Begoun and the late Ina Lefstin Begoun. Brother of Miriam Begoun Markowitz (Phillip) and Richard Begoun (Rose). Michael is also survived by granddaughter Sadie, the Randazza Family, and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE from 1-3p Friday with a private graveside service to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the following charities which Michael enthusiastically supported: Son of a Saint, LASPCA, and the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans.
