

Michael Edward Chepolis passed away on January 13, 2022 after a difficult fight against stomach cancer. He was 50 years old and surrounded by close family and friends when he passed. After his birth in Okinawa, Japan on April 24th, 1971, he spent the rest of his time in New Orleans. He graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School, where he was class president and admired by his classmates. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at Loyola University and was the president of the Alpha Delta Gamma fraternity. He then earned two master’s degrees in Education at the University of New Orleans before returning to Rummel as a teacher in the Resource Department. “Mr. C '' is fondly remembered by the Rummel community as a caring, positive, and patient teacher who molded the resource department into the program it is today, along with his co-worker, Ms. Lisa Ross. Mike was an avid traveler, reader, and LSU and Saints fan. He especially loved listening to music and making digital photo journals. Michael loved his dog Desi, and above all else, spending time with his family. His death was preceded by his father Michael Anthony Chepolis, and his maternal and paternal grandparents, as well as his stepfather, Joseph Meyer Jr. He will forever be loved and missed by his dear wife, Deborah Atha Chepolis; his mother, Mary Beth Cook Meyer; his children, Michael Alan, Connor, and Alexa; his brother John Cook Chepolis (Katherine), his stepbrothers John Williams Meyer (Joan) and Joseph Curtis Meyer (Brooke); his cousins, Ned McGowan (Heather), Max Wheeler, Sam Wheeler (Liz), Stacy Panagakos (Steve), Shannon Ball, Renee Ball, Jennifer Ball and Jason Ball (Tammy); and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends, family members, students, fraternity brothers, and other individuals who cherished his presence. We will commemorate his life at The Chloe (4125 St Charles Ave., New Orleans) on Monday, January 24. Visitation will start at 11:oo AM and the ceremony will begin at 12:30 PM. We kindly ask that attendees follow New Orleans guidelines on masks, vaccination, and COVID-19 testing.
