Virginia “Michele” Pou passed away on September 14, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born in Washington, DC, on November 16, 1943. After earning her bachelor’s degree in French Language and Literature from Georgetown University, she worked for the French Consulate in New Orleans and later became the managing director of the Soniat House Hotel. She cherished her days spent in the French Quarter, welcoming guests from around the world. In her free time, she enjoyed playing tennis, gardening, spending time with her pets, and taking care of her beloved family. She especially loved cooking specialties from Panama, where she had spent years of her childhood surrounded by a large and loving family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manelik Pou, and her parents, Miguel and Virginia Corro.
Michele is survived by her sons, Michael Pou (Heather) and Manelik Pou; grandchildren, Alec and Ginger Pou; sister, Lizette Corro; niece, Jennifer Gillece (Pat); and nephew, Jonathan Nobil (Ashley).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Friday, September 18, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10 AM with a Funeral Mass following at 12 PM. Michele will be laid to rest in Lake Lawn Park immediately after the chapel service has concluded.
