Milton Julius Wessing

Milton Julius Wessing, 93 passed away peacefully after an illness on March 22, 2023. Milton, born August 4, 1929, was a resident of Metairie and a lifelong employee at New Orleans Public Service/Entergy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Clair Jewel Lafrance (married August 1952), parents Joseph Michael Wessing and Theresa Lehmann Wessing, and four siblings Melvin Wessing, Joseph Wessing, Charles Bernard, and Althea Wessing Zinglerson. Milton was a talented golfer who landed 7 holes-in-one, the 7th coming just 7 weeks after the 6th using the same yellow golf ball. At the age of 70, he was still able to “shoot his age.” He and Clair enjoyed a wonderful life through their travels across the United States. He was a long-time member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and whole-heartedly supported all the church’s endeavors. Milton was loved by all and will be missed by all whose lives he touched. The family expresses a special thanks to the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living and his dear friends Marion, Chuck, and Father Tim who were always there for him. In lieu of flowers, Milton requested donations to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd. Metairie on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 11:30AM. A visitation at church will begin at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
