Nancy Creel Normand

Nancy Creel Normand entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 30, 2021 at the age of 76. She was a native of Metairie, Louisiana and resided in later years in Covington, Louisiana. Nancy graduated from Riverdale High School and attended Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. She was born on January 12, 1945 to Robert and Mary Creel. Nancy is survived by her daughter Mary Beth Battaglia (John), brother Robert Creel II (Karen) and sister Mary Jane Lipps (Tom), life-long friend Tom Smith, and grandchildren Jack P. Battaglia, Mary Catherine Battaglia, and Jacob Whatley, as well as nieces and nephews. Nancy is preceded in death by her son, Leon (Trey) Whatley III, and husband, Leon Whatley II. She was an account executive in the New Orleans area radio and television industries for many years where she made lifelong friendships. She loved cooking, poetry, art, music, reading and being in the woods. She will be remembered for her trusting heart and the great love she had for family, friends and her ageless wisdom study group. A Celebration of Life is being held Tuesday, December 28th, 2021 for 1pm at the Foundation Room in Lafreniere Park assembling family and friends for a final loving farewell to a bright star.
