Natalie O. Normand

Natalie Ohler Normand passed away on March 16, 2024, at the age of 98 years old. Daughter of the late Elise Aurianne Ohler and Albert Vincent Ohler and beloved wife of the late Jules V. Normand, Jr. for 58 years.

Natalie was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a 1944 graduate of John McDonogh High School. Natalie belonged to numerous social groups including Dixie Wheeler’s Camping Group, St. Angela Merici Ladies Club and Metairie Homemakers Club. She volunteered at Mount Carmel Academy for 13 years. Natalie was a Girl Scout leader at St. Raphael School in Gentilly and coached volleyball and baseball for the CYO there. She bowled in the Royal Court of Mardi Gras league for 57 years. Natalie was a member of the Pontchartrain Garden Club for over 15 years and was president from 1998-1999. She loved to play cards with her friends especially with her canasta group on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. Natalie was a member of the Well Wisher’s card group for over 20 years. She was a loyal follower of anything LSU and Saints, win or lose.

Natalie loved life and making people laugh; she was always dressing up for any occasion. She will be missed.

Natalie is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Albert Ohler and her daughter, Debra Elise Normand.

She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Normand Thompson (Michael C. Thompson); her grandchildren, Stephanie Thompson Brennan (Michael), Ryan Thompson (Sarah) and Kevin Thompson (Ashley); three great-grandchildren, Audrey, Andrew and Charlotte and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Natalie will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, followed by a funeral mass from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
