Nell Porbes Demoruelle, age 91, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018. Born February 15, 1927 in New Orleans to the late, Henry F. Porbes and Marie Cavani Porbes; she is also preceded in death by her husband, James Ivon Demoruelle and her brother, Charles H. Porbes.
She is survived by her daughters, Charmaine deMoruelle (late, John Brion), Denise D. Curwick, Gay D. Giroir (Rickie); sons, Marc J. Demoruelle (Linda) and Guy J. Demoruelle (Karen); her grandchildren, Danielle D. Helmstetter, Kristin D. Curwick, Garick J. Giroir, James L. Demoruelle, Erica D. Fletcher, Tara C. Price, Yvette J. Brion, Rachelle G. Harris, Jean-Paul D. Brion, Brandon P. Curwick and Taylor L. Demoruelle; great-grandchildren, Landon Demoruelle, Aubree Demoruelle, Colby Demoruelle, Jaxon Fletcher and Jolie Fletcher; and her sister, Joan Howard.
Nell was a graduate of John McDonough High School and attended Newcomb College. She was a member of numerous organizations including, Crescent City Campers, Jefferson Parish Community Band, Mandeville Senior Club, AARP and New Image Club. She was also a seven-time Gold medalist in the Senior Olympics for Volleyball and a power to be feared at Bingo.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, Louisiana on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until Mass. Interment will follow the Mass at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
