He was the beloved husband of the late Colleen Pool Compagno; devoted father of Brandy Carter (Ryan) and Kerry Schudmak (Jeremy); and proud grandfather (“Papa”) of Jacob and Ava Schudmak. He was the son of the late Salvador and Florence Compagno; twin brother of the late Stephen Compagno; brother of Gay Rusk, Linda Brooks, Voyd, Anthony, and Mike Compagno; and brother of the late Salvador Compagno Jr and Joy Jones. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Known affectionately as Papa Nick/Joe, Nick was a legendary scorekeeper at City Park and a longtime member of the Jefferson City Buzzards. He faced life’s challenges with strength, humor, and gratitude, and shared his love and happiness generously with everyone around him.
A private graveside service will be held at Lake Lawn Park. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Kenner City Park Pavilion.
