Nicholas Paul Giambelluca

Nicholas Paul “Nick” Giambelluca, Sr. passed away at the Louisiana Southeast War Veterans Home on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the age of 85. He was a lifelong resident of the New Orleans area and graduated from Warren Easton High School, where he was senior class president and a standout on the football team. After graduation, he received a football scholarship at Mississippi State University. He joined the United States Army and as a sergeant served in Korea. Upon returning from the Korean War, he joined the family business, A. Giambelluca Construction Company, which he operated with his father and two brothers. He was elected to the Jefferson Parish School Board on which he served for nine years. He then was elected to the Jefferson Parish Council from District 6 in 1992 and served as a Councilman for twelve years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Rousseau Giambelluca, to whom he was married for 57 years. Father of Lynda G. Warshauer (Irving J. Warshauer) and the late Nicholas Paul Giambelluca, Jr. Grandfather of Jordan and Taylor Warshauer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Irene Giambelluca, and his two brothers, Michael Giambelluca and Anthony Giambelluca, Jr. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and family members.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 2:00PM. The visitation will begin at 1:00 PM until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Notre Dame Hospice, 1000 Howard Ave, 10th Floor, New Orleans, LA 70113.
