Nickolas Michalogiannis VanMeter, 35 of New York, New York, died Sunday, September 25, 2022, at his home. Nick grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and graduated top of his class from both Archbishop Rummel High School and Louisiana State University. He went on to receive his Master's degree in Physics from Harvard University, where he subsequently continued as a Ph.D. candidate in theoretical physics. Following his education, he became Vice President and Portfolio Manager for Harvard Management Company in Boston, helping manage Harvard University's endowment. He was then Head of Equities and Portfolio Manager at TPRV Capital in Boston. He currently worked as a Portfolio Manager at Garda Capital Partners in New York and was a highly-regarded leader in equity derivatives strategy and investment. He was preceded in death by his mother, Debbie Van Meter of New Orleans, and grandparents Bill and Mary Van Meter of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Surviving Nick are his three aunts, Sheree (Nick) Raub of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Kaye (Walter) Norris of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Monica (Jerry) Mills of Evansville, Indiana and his uncle Mark VanMeter of Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is also survived by cousins Jeremy Noe, Kelli Crunkleton, Joseph Raub, Brad Norris, Chase Van Meter, Matt Van Meter, Ruth Williams, and Ann Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and funeral service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Wednesday, October 5. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon followed by a funeral service at noon. A private interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society.
