Nita Chau Hemard

Nita C. Hemard, age 84, of LaPlace, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Born in Vietnam, Nita was a College Professor and Entrepreneur, owning a deli restaurant, alteration shop, and a bar.

Nita was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Eugene J. Hemard. She is survived by daughters Khaly Mai (Khuong Mai), Dong Phuong Hemard, Mai Linh Hemard, and Jaquelyene Hemard-Whitt (Brett Whitt); sons Sonny J. Hemard and Eric J. Hemard; sister Yen Ha (Hiep Ha); niece Hien Ha (Binh Tran); nephew Phuc Ha; grandchildren Krystal Mai (Brooke Mai), Ivan Mai, Jennfier Reyes (Nicholas Reyes), Brittany Tesson (Barrett Tesson), Angelina Natalya Hemard (Thomas DeMauro), Katelyn Kelly (Chris Kelly), and Jonathan Hemard; and great-grandchildren Khallum Lanh Mai, Khalina Quyen Mai, Avery Tesson, Barrett Tesson, and Benjamin Tesson. She will be dearly missed.

The family would like to give special thanks to all of our family and friends that are able to attend from afar to join us.

A visitation for Nita will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, followed by a funeral Mass at 12:00 PM, and interment thereafter at Masonic Temple Cemetery #1, 400 City Park Ave., New Orleans, LA 70122.
