Norman Routier Comeaux

April 26, 1962June 23, 2020

Norman Routier Comeaux died peacefully at his home on June 23, 2020 at the age of 58. His absence will be felt deeply, but for those who were lucky enough to know him, the memory of his humor, compassion, and generosity is everlasting. Norman was born on April 26, 1962 to parents Corinne R. and S.W. “Buddy” Comeaux, Jr. He graduated from Saint Stanislaus, attended Nicholls State University, and served a lifelong career with his father’s business, Comeaux Furniture & Appliance. His charismatic personality, deep knowledge of the furniture retail industry, and work ethic were valued by customers and colleagues alike. His most important role, however, was that of husband, father, and grandfather. Norman’s dedication to his family knew no bounds. He offered them unconditional love, support, and encouragement. His granddaughter Blaire filled his world with light and love. Norman extended his warmth and kindness to extended family, cherished friends, and strangers. He made others feel valued, included, and welcome. His wife, children, and granddaughter proudly carry on his legacy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Melissa Comeaux; three daughters, Alexis, Mallory, and Morgan Comeaux; two sons, Norman “Buddy” Comeaux, Jr. and Bryson Cotton; granddaughter, Blaire Godwin; brothers, Michael, Sterling “Chip”, and Rene Comeaux; sisters, Lisa Theriot and Linda Boucree; and mother, Corinne R. Comeaux. Norman is preceded in death by his daughter, Madison Comeaux; father, S.W. “Buddy” Comeaux, Jr.; nephew, Jason Theriot; and brother-in-law, Steven Marks. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 901 Beverly Garden Dr. in Metairie, on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 12:00PM. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. To view and sign the guest book, please visit www.lakelawnmetairie.com

I was hired by Norman to work at his store and immediately took a liking to this man. He was funny, gregarious, had a GREAT laugh and very particular, I might add. (When I cleaned and dusted sections of his store, I would often rearrange the statuettes and accessories because I thought it “looked better”. I was unaware that he put them back in the EXACT same spot! Once he found out it was me, he chided me for “messing up his displays!” We had a good laugh over it but trust me, I never moved any of his wares again!) That’s Norman. He’d be serious for a moment because “business is business“ then he’d let me do my own thing because he trusted me to do the job well. Honestly, I never viewed him as my boss but a mentor/friend type of guy. He saw the good in everyone and rolled with it. And we shared the love for Lance’s Peanut Bar. Even after I left his company, I would often drop by to chat with him and leave a small case of Lance’s on his desk.

Norman was such a wonderful, wonderful man and I’m so heartbroken that he left this world far too soon. To the entire Comeaux family and friends, my heart grieves with you. May you all find comfort, sympathy and love during this most difficult time.

And to you, Norman, you were an indelible presence in my life, you’ll never be far from my mind and heart. Until we meet again, rest in peace, my brother.

Dear Melissa and Family,
My dear sweet cousin, I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. You and your family have certainly endured a lot of pain and sorry over the loss of love ones in such a short period of time. It is unthinkable to know what you and your family has had to experience. May God give you all the strength and courage not only to carry on Norman's legacy, but to continue life as Norman would want for you all.

With our deepest sympathy and love,
Pam Baudot & Family

Tomorrow, 1 week will have passed since you were called home. You are smiling again with your Madison, something you really haven't done since she left. You are looking down on Melissa and your kids. We often talked about how proud you are of your children. Well, I want you to know they are hurting by the loss of their Dad. They look strong but i know a huge part of them is missing.
I have so many great memories of when we were young and stupid. Times at the boathouse. Driving around in your Monte Carlo. Somehow, my best memories include food. We were talking the other day about all our favorite restaurants and the best dishes there.
We have been friends since 1977. Alot of good times. Even though we could go months or years without seeing each other, when we did,we didn't skip a beat.
Your smile was infectious. Your laugh, unforgettable. I can still hear it while sitting on my tailgate after our walks.
I am so lucky to have called you my friend but more importantly, you were a brother to me. I promise to look after your family and continue telling stories. Eventually, even the ones we said we wouldn't.
Love you my brother.
