Paul Joseph Talazac Jr.

Born on November 17, 1934, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Paul was the beloved son of the late Paul Joseph Talazac, Sr. and Emelda Rita Blanchard Talazac. A lifelong New Orleanian at heart, he carried with him a deep appreciation for his family, his faith, and his country's history throughout his life.

Paul proudly served his nation in both the Naval Reserves and the United States Air Force, where he was assigned to the 10th Reconnaissance Bombardment Squadron under the Strategic Air Command. His military service remained a source of pride throughout his life and helped shape his enduring respect for those who served.

Following his military service, Paul enjoyed a successful career as a salesman, where his friendly personality, honesty, and ability to connect with people earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike.

A man of many interests, Paul had a lifelong passion for family genealogy and military history. He devoted countless hours to researching and documenting his family's heritage and the military service of relatives, preserving an invaluable legacy for future generations. He was an avid fisherman who found great joy in the outdoors and never missed an opportunity to share stories of history, family, or his latest adventure. Paul also loved traveling and cherished every opportunity to spend time with his family.

Paul was a member of the Silver Sneakers, the Forever Young Senior Club at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, the Tasters Supper Club and the National Rifle Association. His friendships through these organizations enriched his life and reflected his outgoing nature and genuine enjoyment of people.

Above all else, Paul was devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joan Ann Davis Talazac; his daughter, Jon Ann Talazac Lawson (Stanton); his son, Christopher Paul Talazac (Charise); his grandchildren, Jessica Alaine Talazac (Tanden), Jamie Ann Zaruba (Travis), and Michael Christopher Talazac (Rebecca); and his cherished great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace Zaruba and Aaron Paul Zaruba.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will be held from 9 AM - 11 AM with a service to begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
