Obituary of Pedro Cazabon
Dr. Pedro Cazabon passed away on January 1, 2023 at age 57 as a result of complications following a heart attack. He is remembered as a man of many talents. Pedro was an exceptional cook, a lover of the arts, and an avid reader. His deep capacity for knowledge made him a wearer of many hats—one of his favorite expressions. His greatest role was that of a devoted husband and father. He valued family above all else. Pedro is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Tiffany; his three children, Jack, Julia, and George; his mother, Luisa; his sister, Patricia; his brother, Juan (Heather), niece, Lilly and nephew, Harry; and his beloved dog, Foster. He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Cazabon. His patients, colleagues, and friends will remember him for his quick wit and his willingness to support, problem-solve, and share advice. During his 27 years of service to Ochsner Health, he impacted the lives of thousands of patients and families in his care. He joined the Ochsner family immediately following medical school for his residency in Internal Medicine. After joining the practice, he expanded his role, serving as Associate Medical Director for Primary Care (Southshore region), and finally, becoming the System Service Line Leader for the department. Additionally, he served two consecutive terms on the Ochsner Health Board of Directors. Pedro dedicated himself to community health by working to expand the Primary Care Group Practice. He was instrumental in the design and development of the Ochsner Center for Primary Care and Wellness and led the growth of several community health initiatives, including the widespread testing and vaccination efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was a deeply empathetic physician and a valued leader. He loved to travel, to swim, and to sail. He lived by the philosophy “Let it Go,” an invitation to all to release negativity and only hold on to the people, places, and things that make life beautiful. The family would like to thank the entire team at Ochsner Health for their unwavering support and care. In honor of Pedro’s life work in Primary Care, the family asks that you make a donation to in his memory, in lieu of flowers. Contributions will support ongoing innovations in Primary Care at Ochsner. Visitation will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 4640 Canal St., New Orleans, LA on Saturday January 21st starting at 9 a.m. with mass to follow at noon.
