IN THE CARE OF
Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries
Peggy LeBlanc Gilligan passed away on January 18, 2022 at the age of 77. She was born on November 23, 1944 to the late Francis Bonny and Rose Mary LeBlanc in New Orleans. Dedicated to her career, worked as an Executive Administrative Assistant for Popeye’s Corporate for over forty years and made many lifelong friendships there. Though she loved travelling with her husband and girl’s families, her heart was for New Orleans-- she loved Mardi Gras, New Orleans cuisine, the New Orleans Saints, and everything the city had to offer. She was also an avid Duke Basketball fan. Above all else, she loved her grandchildren and supporting them by attending their many activities and events.
She is survived by: her loving husband of 59 years, George Gilligan; her daughters, Robin Schlosser (Tony), Dana Izquierdo (Fredy), Erin Candilora (Darryl), Tia Deslatte (Herbie); her sister, Bonnie LeBlanc; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Nick), Corey (Alyson), Abby, Casey, Allison, Kyle, Madison, Jordan, Olivia, and Landon; and her great-grandchild, Logan.
The family would like to give their special thanks to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and to the Hospice of Baton Rouge for their devoted care.
Visitation will take place at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 29, 2022, followed by a 1:00 p.m. Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. Interment to follow in Lake Lawn Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge in Peggy’s memory.
