Phillip Howard Roussell
February 4, 1940 – May 16, 2020
Phillip H. Roussell, age 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2020. A native of New Orleans, Phil was born on February 4, 1940 to the late Howard K. Roussell and Audrey S. Roussell. He was the devoted husband of the late Carole P. Roussell; loving father to Phillip H. Roussell, Jr. (Denise) and Karen R. Litolff (Ralph); grandfather to Ryan C. Roussell, Shannon E. Roussell, Amanda G. Litolff and Andrew C. Litolff; and brother to Joseph K. Roussell (Jeannette) and the late Linda R. Hymel. He is also survived by his nieces, Roslyn M. Hymel and Julianne R. Kleinpeter (Kyle); and nephew, Jason K. Roussell (Stephanie) and their families.
Phil was a graduate of Jesuit High School and LSU New Orleans. He was a devout parishioner of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Metairie. He retired from Amoco Production Company in 1991 after 27 years of service.
Phil was very loyal to his family. He was married for 48 years to his wife, Carole, until her passing in 2011. A perfect day for him would be spent with his soulmate, Carole, watching one of his grandchildren participate in a ball game, dance recital, or band performance and then having the entire family gather for a good meal at one of his favorite restaurants. After Carole’s passing, Phil learned a new normal. Phil enjoyed spending time with his friends, old and new. The family would like to send special thanks to everyone who knew him, cared for him, and loved him.
Due to the current circumstances, services will be private at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. The family invites you to express your fond thoughts, memories and condolences online at lakelawnmetairie.com.

Philip and Karen
I remember Mrs Carol and Mr. Phil letting Jody Blaylock , Jay Johnston and Billy Cox play basketball ball even late at night. My basketball goal was right next to their bedroom. Julie and I was just talking about Mr. Phil and Mrs Carol coming over to my Dad Joe Blaylock and Mom Opal Blaylock playing pinochle card game. Even when my parents move to West Bank My Mom and Dad had Christmas party’s and we got to see Mr. Phil and Mrs Carol. Julie and I send you our love. Jesus said I go to prepare a place for you that where I am that you may also be with me. When we put our trust in the grace of God and accept His grace through His Son. Our future homes await us. You had some wonderful parents, beautiful inside out.
Julie and I pray for God’s grace to cover you during this time.

Joyce Eberle, a resident of Inspired Living, and I (a friend who frequently visits Joyce) send our love and prayers to Phil's family. Phil was a kind and gentle man with whom we enjoyed sharing many hours of conversation. He always enjoyed talking about his kids and grandchildren as he was very proud of them all. Phil also loved the live music at Inspired Living which definitely lifted his spirits. We will miss him!

Very sorry to read of Phil's passing. I have fond memories of our 5 years next to one another in the Jesuit B class from 1953-1958 .
Unlike myself , Phil was the most even tempered person I have met .
God Bless you Phil ,
Don Saucier , MD.
