Pickens Costley Bailey

Pickens Costley Bailey passed away peacefully on June 11, 2022 with her family by her side. Born in 1936 to Frank Grither and Frances Magee Costley of New Orleans, Louisiana, she lived to age 86. Pickens attended Louise S McGehee School followed by Newcomb College where she was a Pi Beta Phi. She spent many years as a nurse assistant to Dr. Jerry St. Pierre in the specialty area of OB-GYN where she loved her patients and they loved her. She was a member of the Orleans Club. She raised three wonderful children. After retirement, Pickens and her husband Bob, relocated their home from New Orleans to Covington, Louisiana where Pickens absolutely enjoyed life in “the country” and lived out her joy of nature and animals.

Pickens was preceded in death by her husband John Robinson Bailey (Bob). She is survived by brother Frank Grither Costley, Jr. of Hendersonville, NC and her three children Cynthia Bailey Sanders of Atlanta, GA, Robert McGregor Bailey (Bobby) of Covington, LA, and Susan Bailey Davis of Fort Mill, SC. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Courtney Sanders Phillips and Kelsey Sanders Vason, three great grandchildren and her close companion of 20 years, Ronald Joseph Roussel, Sr.

Pickens is well loved and will be missed by many. Friends and relatives are invited to the Memorial Service at Christ Episcopal Church in Covington on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northshore Food Bank.
