Priscilla was born on December 28, 1962, in Monroe, Louisiana. She had an idyllic childhood, surrounded by family, friends, and all manner of pets. She graduated from Hollins College in 1984, majoring in English Literature and Philosophy.
After college Priscilla attended Tulane Law School, and while she obtained her Juris Doctorate in 1987 and passed the Louisiana Bar Exam, she quickly realized she did not want a legal career. Instead of practicing law, she moved to New York and worked as a procurer for Christie’s Auction House. She brought some of that knowledge back to New Orleans, where she was a co-founder of two successful retail businesses, Artefacts and Pied Nu.
Priscilla was a life-long practitioner of Iyengar Yoga and became a certified Iyengar Instructor. Yoga was an important part of Priscilla’s physical and spiritual health, and she made many good friends through her practice.
Friends and family were always Priscilla’s primary focus. She married the love of her life, David O’Quinn, in November 1989, and they raised two beautiful and talented daughters, Eleanor and Maisie. She was a great wife and devoted mother, and she was fiercely loved by her family. Her daughters blessed Priscilla with three grandsons, Arthur, Henry, and Murphy, whom she adored. Being their Mimi was one of the happiest times of Priscilla’s life.
Priscilla was witty, kind, and adventurous. She was a fantastic cook, skilled decorator, a warm hostess, avid painter, and a loyal friend. She loved music and going to shows, hanging out with friends, delicious meals, fun vacations, and books and movies of all sorts. She lived life to the fullest, always learning and growing, even when she was ill and knew her time was limited.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eleanor Brown.
Survivors include her husband, David; children, Dr. Eleanor O’Quinn Carrio and Dr. Marguerite O’Quinn Meariman, and their spouses, Marlon Carrio and Dr. Jacob Meariman; grandchildren, Arthur and Henry Carrio and Murphy Meariman; siblings and their spouses, Harris and Kristin Brown and William and Katherin Brown; as well as many numerous nieces and nephews.
Priscilla was taken from us far too soon, but we will always cherish her memory and the light she left in our hearts.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans. The visitation is from 9:00 to 11:00 am, with the service to follow.
