He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph and mother, Antoinette; brothers, Joseph (Viola), Anthony (Johanna); devoted husband of Cheryl Laran for 45 years; loving father of his two sons, Raymond Canzoneri, Jr. (Wendy) and Bernard Joseph (Krystal); brother of Nettie (John); proud grandfather “G Daddy” of five grandchildren, Marc, Gianni, Joseph, Sophia, and Madison.
He was a graduate of Holy Cross High School (1966) and Louisiana State University (1972), where he obtained his professional engineering degree.
Raymond was a giving man and an avid philanthropist. He was a member of Krewe of Endymion, where he was a Super Lieutenant for 23 years. He was a charter member for the Krewe of Druids, as well as a charter member of the Italian Marching Club Parade. He was a 32˚ Mason of Lodge #368. Raymond was a member of the IAEI and IEEE Electrical Societies. Owner of Canzoneri & Associates LLC and he held 38 state professional engineering licenses. A devout Catholic, Raymond was an active parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church.
A visitation will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held Monday, June 4, 2018 at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 4921 W. Metairie Ave in Metairie at 11:00 am. A visitation will take place prior to mass beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will take place following mass in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum in New Orleans.
