

Raymond F. Danahay, age 93, passed away at his home on June 9, 2022. Raymond is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Virginia Feltmann Danahay. He is survived by his two children Daniel Danahay (Monique) and Kim Stern (Philip), and five grandchildren Patrick (Catie) and Preston Danahay, Eric, Nicholas, and Amy Stern. A graduate of S.J. Peters High School and Loyola University, Raymond was a long-time employee of Western Electric. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1950 to 1953 at the U.S. Naval Amphibious Base in Norfolk, Virginia. In August 1953 Raymond received from Rear Admiral Rufus Rose the “Most Valuable Player Award” for his performance in the Atlantic Fleet Baseball Tournament which was held in Norfolk. He signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers and played outfield for Abbeville in the Evangeline League. Raymond was an active participant in numerous organizations, including the Diamond Club, American Legion Post 175, and AARP Chapter 4924. The family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude to his current caregivers Earline, Ivy, Barbara, Daisy, Tiffany, and Denice for their devoted care. Visitation will be at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church in Metairie on Tuesday, June 14 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral mass at the church.
