Rebekah was born in Jackson, Michigan in 1925 to Beckham A. Robertson and Louise Bowling Robertson. Shortly thereafter, the family relocated to Owensboro, Kentucky, where she spent the majority of her childhood. Raised in the picturesque countryside of Kentucky, young Rebekah developed a profound appreciation for the beauty surrounding her, which she expressed through sketches and paintings. Her artistic talents ultimately earned her acceptance into the esteemed art program at Purdue University, where she dedicated herself to advancing her craft.
During her collegiate years, Rebekah met the love of her life, Paul DeWitt Noll, a Purdue engineering student and World War II veteran. Eager to embark on their journey together, they were married on July 19, 1946, in Indiana. Shortly thereafter, they welcomed their first daughter, Pamela. The couple subsequently had three more children—Paula, Patricia, and Paul—and eventually settled in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Despite the demands of motherhood, Rebekah successfully advanced her career in the arts while residing in New Orleans. She co-owned a local art gallery, "Lagniappe," and published a series of books focused on embellishment art. Concurrently, she maintained a thriving career as a commissioned artist. Additionally,
Rebekah taught classes for aspiring artists at various colleges across Louisiana and served on judging panels for numerous art exhibitions in both Louisiana and Texas, including the prestigious Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
After more than two decades of intertwining their lives within the vibrant tapestry of New Orleans, the family relocated to Sugar Land, Texas. In this new environment, Rebekah thrived as an artist, devoted mother, and beloved wife to Paul, until his sudden passing in 1980, following 34 years of marriage. Following the loss of her soulmate, Rebekah decided to approach each day with intention. She persevered in her pursuits of design and creativity while nurturing her family in an environment filled with love. From painting, drawing and needlework to decorating her home interior and refining her culinary skills– she continued to find a broad variety of ways to express her creativity and brighten the world of those around her.
In her later years, Rebekah found companionship in Addison Terry, Sr., a fellow tennis enthusiast and member of the Sugar Creek Country Club. Together, they enjoyed traveling through the rural landscapes of Texas, which ultimately inspired their move to a pastoral homestead in Washington, TX, in 2005. Upon settling there, they became long-time members of the First Presbyterian Church in Navasota, where they took on prominent roles as volunteers in the church's afterschool program, The Nehemiah Center.
Her most recent years were devoted to the two passions she cherished most: painting in her home art studio and embracing her role as "Granny." She deeply valued the time spent with her grandchildren, consistently showering them with love and affection. She could always be counted on to happily scoop-up any little ones up during summer vacation or family holidays. As a result, many priceless, precious memories were made in her care.
Rebekah's life was a testament to the beauty of living with purpose and joy. Her influence will forever echo through the lives she touched. Those she leaves behind will feel the ache from her absence the remainder of our lives. Yet, we consider ourselves truly blessed to have crossed paths with such an extraordinary woman and to have basked in the radiant glow of her presence and affection.
Rebekah is preceded in death by her husband Paul Dewitt Noll, parents Beckham Robertson, Louise Robertson, brother Richard Robertson, daughter Patricia Noll, sister Carol Baker and granddaughter Patricia Lasseur.
