Regina Mary Kimble Martiny, age 96, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, leaving the card table with a full hand—and probably an ace up her sleeve. She didn’t lose the game—she was just tired of winning.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Albert William Martiny, Jr. whose charm and gregarious spirit matched her own. She was the daughter of the late Julius B. Kimble and Regina Federer Kimble, and was reunited in rest with her eleven siblings: Helen Petermann, Julius Kimble, Jr., Herbert Kimble, Leona Lahaie, Claire Amato, Joseph Kimble, Rose Mancuso, Raymond Kimble, Frank Kimble, Leon Kimble, and John Kimble.
She leaves behind five adoring children, Albert William Martiny III (Bonnie), Robert Louis Martiny (Sue), Regina Mary Martiny DuBuisson (N. Eric), Steven James Martiny, and Donna Martiny Clement (Geoffrey). Regina also held a special place in her heart for her nephew, Albert Joseph Mancuso Jr., who she considered a son.
Granny’s joy multiplied with her twelve adoring grandchildren: Lt Col. Caleb Michael Martiny USAF Ret. (Gillian), N. Scot DuBuisson (Brianne), Regina Marti DuBuisson (Michael Steiner), Erin Martiny Hebert (Shane), Courtney Clement Schmitt (Ronnie), Geoffrey Peter Clement, Jr. (Jenna), Joshua David Martiny, Victoria “Tori” Martiny Brenes (Jairo), Katie Clement Dillard (Dean), Steven James Martiny, Jr. (Kelly), Carly Clement Laque (Steven), and Colleen Clement Parfait (Dylan). Her seventeen great grandchildren who brought her so much joy, Elliot DuBuisson, Madeline “Maddy” Martiny, McKayla Schmitt, Aidan Hebert, Henry “Hank” Martiny, Connor Clement, Jordyn Hebert, Benjamin Dillard, Clara DuBuisson, Tullia Steiner, Crawford Dillard, Presley Martiny, Javi Brenes, Emmett Laque, Reece Martiny, August Parfait, and Laurel Laque. And six loving step great grandchildren, Lauren Dodd, Hannah Hebert, Caeleigh Messina, Kaeden Norris, Dylan Skeldon, and Austin Vasquez.
As matriarch of the Kimble family Regina is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews.
Known affectionately as Mom, Granny, or Aunt Regina she was truly one of a kind - always with a song for every occasion (including a few jingles best not sung in church), a quick wit, and a talent for turning gatherings into celebrations with her famous whiskey snowballs.
Born on July 16, 1929, a native New Orleanian and proud resident of Metairie for 63 years, Regina was always ready to play a game of cards rarely missing her Canasta, Bouree and Poker games with neighborhood friends. Regina was a devoted parishioner of St. Louis King of France and charter member of St. Angela Merici, a member of Metairie Women’s Club, and Archbishop Rummel Old Timers.
Regina believed in three things: love deeply, laugh often, and always get to Mass.
We’ll miss your laughter, your sass, and your unwavering faith. Game over, Granny—you won!
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Regina’s life on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm, celebrated by Fr. Beau Charbonnet. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery.
