

Richard A. Denson, 94, of Reserve, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018. He was born April 13, 1924, in Graysville, TN and was the son of the late James and Flora Turner Denson; the brother of the late Joe Denson, Jimmy Denson, Eliza L. Goins, and Mary E. Rogers. Richard began his service at the age of 16 on October 20, 1942 with the United States Navy during World War II as a Gunner’s Mate Third Class on the SS Denalz, SS Lucius Fairchild, SS Robert Jorden and the SS John T. Joyce until his honorable discharge on October 10, 1945. He will forever be immortalized as a member of the “Greatest Generation”. He retired as a Plumber and Pipe Fitter from the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union # 60 and #43. Richard was an avid bowler and golfer. He also had a passion for creating beautiful outdoor patio areas, which included various types of plants, flowers, and fountains. Richard is survived by his sons and daughters, Rick Denson, Nedra Campo Denson, Steve Denson, Andrew Denson and Susanne Denson; beloved niece Caroline; sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, eighteen nieces and six nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Grade Denson.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to all of the staff at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve, Louisiana for the love and care they gave Richard during his residence.
