Richard received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his Doctorate from Johns Hopkins University. He was a psychology professor at Catholic University of America, with many publications in professional journals.
Since childhood, he had a love of magic and performed under the stage name of “Dr. Wonder”. He was a member of Society of American Magicians (SAM) and International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM). He enjoyed painting and was a member of various watercolor clubs. He was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years.
